Go Acoustic Audio began when master guitar maker Paul McGill (mcgillguitars.com) began looking for a new pickup system that would better meet the needs of artists using his guitars. At the time, there were no systems that had the tone or feedback rejection abilities that his artists were looking for so he decided to develop his own.
In 2015, Paul met Ben Shaw, who was working as a freelance audio-electronics design engineer. They designed the first system that summer and had production prototypes by the winter. Over the next year they extensively revised the design and began to experiment with some of the unique aspects that would set the Go Acoustic Audio pickup system apart.
In the winter of 2016-2017, Paul and Ben began to develop the idea of a modular system of products that could improve existing instruments without having to heavily modify them. They then refined the design over the next two years with feedback from many guitar players and technicians.
By the fall of 2018, several major artists such as Peter White and Jonathan Butler were using the system on their main stage guitars to great effect. Since that time, the system has been used on national and world tours spanning five continents.
The Go Acoustic Audio pickup system has proven itself to be the best acoustic guitar pickup system available. It was developed with the help of artists playing in the most demanding stage environments and it has lived up to expectations.
We are proud to offer our products to all musicians with the hope that they will free guitarists from the constraints of live sound so that they can focus on their art.
