This filter provides one of the steepest slopes available in the analog domain, 24dB/Oct. Unlike most other filters, The Dropoff uses a Bessel filter. This design yields less phase shift when compared with other filters. The frequency response is also more linear near the crossover point. The filter's Detailed mode, allows for complete sonic transparency. For color, engage Fat mode which switches to a transformer based output stage. This mode smooths out the highs and adds some low end transformer saturation.
Though The Dropoff is primarilly designed for use in an analog mastering chain, it is perfect for any recording chain where more control over low frequency content is needed. It is sure to become one of your workhorse units.

We worked with a client to develop a hydrophone preamp that compensated for nonlinearities in the hydrophone capsule. The catch was that this circuit needed to run on 1.5V, less than 1mA, and had to be inexpensive and very small.
This was a really cool project to work on! The studio wanted some Studio A console preamps which could be remotely located in the live room. The obvious issue would be how to control the preamps without actually going into the live room. To solve this problem, we designed an 8 channel rack preamp which could be remotely controlled. The heart of the system is the preamp themselves. These are the exact audio path found in the console and are even made with original parts. But they have been modified to be digitally controlled. Each channel has a full set of controls on the front panel. When the "Local" button is engaged, that channel ignores the commands from the remote and responds to the front panel controls. This allows the preamp to be used without the remote.
The remote has individual controls for each channel which makes operation really easy. We designed the lights on the remote to only illuminate after the remote received confirmation that the preamp received the command. This way we always know the true status of the preamps.
We developed all the firmware for the preamp rack and the remote specifically for this project. We also tried to keep the aesthetics identifiable, but with a twist.
This EQ combines German, British, and American design influences to make an incredibly unique EQ. It features Baxandall High and Low frequency shelving filters and a sweepable, fixed Q, mid band. The transformers contribute to its silky smooth high end and huge low end, while the discrete 990 amplifiers provide clarity without harshness. Overall, this EQ provides a unique character that is useful in every situation.
